Foundation Laying Ceremony of the Garment Manufacturing CFC, Morigaon — An initiative of ni-msme & Directorate of Welfare of SCs under PM–AJAY
Hon’ble Cabinet Minister Shri Pijush Hazarika, Government of Assam, led the Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony of the Common Facility Centre (CFC) for Garment Manufacturing, in the presence of:
Dr. Kulasree Nath, Director, Directorate of Scheduled Castes Welfare, Government of Assam
Smt. Anamika Tewari, ACS, District Commissioner
Dr. Asuthosh A. Murkute, Director General, ni-msme
Shri K. Surya Prakash Goud, Director, School of Enterprise Development (SED), ni-msme
Shri Kushal Maitra, PMA (Project Management Agency), Indus Integrated Information Management Limited (IIIML)
Other distinguished dignitaries and officials were also present during the ceremony. The Common Facility Centre (CFC) for Garment Manufacturing at Morigaon is being established under the Pradhan Mantri Anusuchit Jaati Abhyuday Yojana (PM–AJAY) to enhance livelihood opportunities and uplift the Scheduled Caste (SC) communities in Assam.
This initiative focuses on improving socio-economic conditions by providing access to modern machinery, skill development programmes, and a supportive ecosystem that encourages growth in the garment manufacturing sector.
The project is being implemented with the support of the Directorate of Welfare of Scheduled Castes, Assam, in collaboration with ni-msme. The CFC will serve as a vital resource for SC artisans, entrepreneurs, and youth—helping them build sustainable income-generating enterprises and expand their participation in the apparel value chain
